ハイロード店主青山の尊敬する友人の一人、ヴァレンティーノ・セビッチ氏がこのほど新しいサイクルレーシングチームを発足させることになりました。

ご自身も強力なライダーで、国内外のレースに積極的に参加されている方ですが、日本の若手ライダーが世界で活躍するためにぜひ備えるべき能力や知識を広め、日本のサイクルレーシング界に革新を起こしたい、というのがヴァレンティーノ氏の意志です。

このチームの特筆すべき点は、なんとあのランス・アームストロングを指導した伝説的コーチ、クリス・カーマイクル氏とのタイアップにより、世界最先端のコーチング＆マネージメントによる競技力向上プランを備えることです。世界の多くのプロチーム（ツールドフランス出場チームを含む）にも比肩すべき、驚くべき強力な体制ということができます。

I'm very pleased to announce the formation of a new cycling team based in Tokyo, called Team Valentino & Partners.
東京を本拠とする新しいサイクルレーシングチーム「チーム・ヴァレンティーノ・アンド・パートナーズ」の結成を、ここに謹んで発表致します。

The team will posses truly unique features, in addition to long term goals unlike any other current amateur team in Japan.
我がチームはきわめて独特な特徴と長期的目標を持っています。これらは現在、国内のどのアマチュアサイクルレーシングチームももたないものです。

Team Valentino & Partners has been founded on the belief that the talent is here in Japan, the determination is here in Japan, but the coaching, structure, knowledge and access to the top levels of international cycling are too hard to reach or not existent to enough Japanese.
才能あるライダーも、成果をあげる強い意志のあるライダーもここ日本には存在するのに、コーチングや選手の活動計画や知識、世界の一流レースへの架け橋が日本ではそもそも存在しなかったり手に入れることが困難であったりする（そのことが日本のライダーが真価を発揮して世界で活躍することの障害になっている）、このような信念にたってチーム・ヴァレンティーノ・アンド・パートナーズは設立されました。

I am hoping that my company, "Valentino & Partners" and the most legendary coach and coaching system in cycling history, Chris Carmichael and Carmichael Coaching Systems "CTS", can humbly bridge this gap together to help improve the overall organization of Japanese amateur cycling, improve opportunities and enjoyment for amateur Japanese athletes who dream of attaining their personal bests, and to provide a solid platform for young Japanese athletes who dream of one day becoming leading professionals on the international stage.
私の経営する企業「ヴァレンティーノ・アンド・パートナーズ」と、サイクルレーシング界における伝説的コーチ、クリス・カーマイクル氏および彼のトレーニングシステム「カーマイクル・トレーニング・システム（ＣＴＳ）」とが協力することで上記のような障害を克服する手助けとなることができ、これによって日本のアマチュア自転車競技界のさらなる発展、自己の限界に挑戦する国内のアマチュア選手達の能力と走る喜びの増進、そして将来世界の一流レースでの活躍を夢見る、若い国内の選手達に対する強固な活動基盤の提供に寄与することができると信じています。

Via this platform, Team Valentino & Partners will provide exclusive and very significant membership benefits to world class cycling equipment, accessories and knowledge that are often out of reach for the amateur athlete.
上記の目的のため、チーム・ヴァレンティーノ・アンド・パートナーズは、チームメンバーに対し特別で重要なサポートを提供します。これには世界一流の機材及び用品の提供、およびノウハウの提供が含まれ、これらは通常であればアマチュア選手達には手の届かないレベルのものです。

For the integrity of good organization in our first year of 2008, Team Valentino & Partners "V&P", will initially limit its team membership to approximately 25 athletes and is accepting rider applications to the team now.
チーム運営上の理由から、チームの初年度である２００８年シーズンにはチーム・ヴァレンティーノ・アンド・パートナーズ（Ｖ＆Ｐ）は、参加ライダーをおおよそ２５人までに限る予定であり、現在参加の希望者を募集中です。

Although V&P is an amateur cycling team, all V&P athletes will be required minimal levels of commitment and performance; balanced of course against challenging real life situations that exist for all amateur athletes.
Ｖ＆Ｐはアマチュアチームではありますが、すべてのチームメンバーは最小限の責務及び成果をもとめられます。当然ながらこれらの責務はすべてのアマチュア選手が克服しなければならない、実生活上の諸条件とのバランスの上に達成されねばならないものです。

Those commitments are:
チームメンバーの責務は下記のようになります。

- Purchase team gear at cost price (uniform, bike frame, helmet, etc.) provided to athletes from the generosity and faith of the team's partners, and of zero profit for the team. "A team that uses top equipment and looks professional feels professional".
チームの使用機材を「原価で」自費購入すること（ユニフォーム・バイクフレーム・ヘルメット他）。これは各協賛者の好意とチームへの信任に基づき、全く利潤なしにチームに提供されるものです。「最高の機材を提供され、最高のチームとして扱われるチームこそがプロとしての真の自覚を備えることができる」のです。

- Sign up for individual CTS coaching, which will also coach the team as a professional unit. At the moment, coaching can only be provided in English.
個別にＣＴＳコーチングサービスの契約を結ぶこと。ＣＴＳはまたプロチームレベルでのチームコーチングをＶ＆Ｐに提供します。現在、ＣＴＳのコーチングサービスは英語でのみ利用することができます。

- Purchase and train with a power meter of your own choice.
自分の好むパワーメーターを購入し、それを使用してトレーニングを行うこと。

- Train with the team once a week, depending on individual and team racing schedules.
チーム及び個々の選手のレース日程に従って週に一度はチームとの練習に参加すること。

- Commit to training and racing for the overall results and honour of the team and for your team-mates. When your team wins, you win.
トレーニング及びレースにおいて最善の成果をあげ、チームとチームメイトの名誉となるべく努力を払うこと。「チームの勝利は貴方の勝利」なのです。

- Compete in a minimum of one race per month, subject to the current racing calendar in Japan.
現在国内で行われている競技会に、最低限月に一度は参加すること。

- Commit to training, racing and conducting oneself at all times as positive ambassadors to the team, the team's partners and for the sport of cycling as a whole in Japan.
トレーニング、レース、及び生活の全般にわたってチームと協賛者、そして日本の自転車競技界全体の良き代表として振る舞うよう努力を払うこと。

- Commit to peak performance, without the assistance of any illegal substances as listed by the Union Cycliste International "UCI".
国際自転車競技連盟（ＵＣＩ）の指定する非合法な手段を使用することなく最高の成績を上げるよう努力すること。

The V&P cycling team mission is:
Ｖ＆Ｐサイクリング・チームの目標は以下のものです。

To become the most consistently competitive amateur team in Japan by the end of the 2008 season and onwards, by providing talented Japanese riders with access to the best coaching, best equipment, individual and team skills development, and domestically & internationally organized training camps & racing.
２００８年シーズンの終わりまでに国内でもっとも上位の戦績を継続的にあげるアマチュアチームとなり、この成果を継続し続けること。この目的のため才能ある日本の若手ライダーに最高のコーチング、最高の機材、個人及びチーム活動の技術向上、国内外におけるトレーニングキャンプ及びレース参戦経験の機会を提供します。
